Consent Notice

Version 1.0 · Effective: 4 October 2026

  • Version: 1.0
  • Effective date: 4 October 2026
  • Controller: Emre Yalçın, Yalı Caddesi No: 8, Atakum, Samsun, Türkiye, support@saril.app

This text is separate from our Privacy Notice. The Privacy Notice informs you; this text asks for your optional, explicit consent to process the records listed below.

1. Which records does this consent cover?

This consent covers only these two kinds of records:

  • Your mood entries: the level you choose on the mood screen (from 1 to 5), any factors you optionally select (such as sleep, work, school, exams, family, friends, relationship, money, health, weather), and the time of the entry.
  • Your answers to the question of the day: the text you write in response to the daily question (up to 280 characters) and the time you wrote it.

It also covers what is calculated from these records on your device: your weekly mood strip, the "My writing" list, and the gentle paragraph in your weekly letter that acknowledges harder days. The letter never contains your mood levels or what you wrote; it only takes into account that you recorded a hard day that week. Letters are rebuilt from your records each time they are shown, so deleted records no longer appear in them.

Your companion, steps, points, level, breathing breaks, focus sessions and all other information are not covered by this consent. They work without it.

2. Why we ask for consent

These records may contain information about your mental health or other sensitive topics. Under privacy laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Art. 9 GDPR), the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (Art. 6 KVKK), and US state consumer health data laws (such as the Washington My Health My Data Act), this may be health data or consumer health data, which should be processed only with your explicit consent.

3. What they are used for, and how

  • Purpose: to show your records back to you (mood history, weekly strip, "My writing"), to let your companion respond gently to what you logged, and to shape your weekly letter.
  • Where: only on your phone, in the app's private storage.
  • Who can see them: only you. These records are never sent to us or anyone else, and we cannot see them.
  • They are never shared or sold, never transferred abroad, and never used for advertising or analytics.
  • Exception: if your phone's backup feature (such as iCloud Backup) is on, these records may be included in a backup in your own cloud account (Privacy Notice, Section 8).
  • How long: until you delete them, withdraw consent, or uninstall the app.

4. Consent is optional

  • Giving consent is not required and is not a condition for using Sarıl.
  • If you don't consent: mood check-ins and saving written answers to the question of the day are turned off; these two features don't keep records. The question of the day is still shown, but you can't write an answer; a calm "Allow" card appears in its place, and a day without an answer earns no question points. Your companion, steps, points, level, breathing exercises, focus timer, weekly letter and the rest of Sarıl work as usual.
  • The checkbox is never pre-checked. If you leave it unchecked, you have not consented.

5. You can change your mind at any time

  • Where: Settings → Privacy → My entries and writing.
  • If you didn't consent at first, you can consent there later.
  • When you withdraw consent:
  • your mood entries and answers to the question of the day are deleted from your phone (the app warns you first; if you like, you can save a copy with Settings → Privacy → Download my data before that);
  • your points, level and companion stay; points earned with these records (including question-of-the-day points) are not taken away;
  • weekly letters are rebuilt from your records, so deleted records no longer appear in them;
  • processing before your withdrawal remains lawful.
  • Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent: one switch and one confirmation.

6. Age

  • Sarıl is for people aged 16 and over.
  • If you are between 16 and 18, we encourage you to talk to a parent or guardian before giving this consent. Consent is optional; you can use Sarıl without it.

7. Record of your choice

When you give or withdraw consent, the date and the version of this text are saved only on your phone, so it is clear what you agreed to. If this text changes materially, we will ask for your consent again.

8. Your rights and contact

Your rights are described in Section 14 and the annexes of the Privacy Notice. You can send questions to support@saril.app.

9. Statement

I have read this text. I consent to the processing of my mood entries and my answers to the question of the day, as described above, for the stated purposes and only on this phone. I understand that I can withdraw my consent at any time under Settings → Privacy → My entries and writing, that these records will be deleted when I do, and that I can use the rest of Sarıl without giving consent.

Checkbox in the app (last step of the welcome flow, not pre-checked):

☐ I consent to my entries and writing being stored on this phone.

The short wording of the checkbox applies together with the full text linked to it. Checking the box means you agree to the statement in this section.
